Echo is an automaton fed by various inputs and data. The weather around MoMA, the wind direction and trends, when there are more or less people in the lobby, the heat, and so forth—all these things come together and feed the machine that then responds randomly. You could say that Echo is a sentient automaton that responds to its surroundings by receiving data that us humans don’t really perceive, but a machine can. It notices all these changes like atmospheric pressure and that forces the machine to change its behavior.

Echo reacts or bounces back what it feels, but like the name, it is doomed to repeat what it hears without the possibility of articulating anything. It’s a doomed automaton that feels.

		<description>VizKit: VR Music Visualization
We invited NYU Shanghai's VR whizz-kids to teach participants how to create their very own virtual reality music visualization engine in Unity. The workshop was presented in both NYU Abu Dhabi and Shanghai with Christian Grewell. Online participants joined in via our VR chatroom as it was presented. Strap on your VR headset and chill (or rock) out to your favorite music in your very own immersive simulation. Note: These are early experiments in DK/DK2 and Vive Hardware. VR has come a long way!

		<description>The Internet of Everything Machine

The IoE Machine is an interactive installation powered by the Internet of Everything. The machine intuitively connects to local networks using Cisco technologies to simulate a journey through the city in which it is located. Driven by real-time data such a weather, traffic and local events, both the journey and the final destination will be different every time.Bruno Kruse: nodejs, openFrameworks, RaspberryPi, Arduino

In collaboration with: Mike Manh, Cisco, Pysop Interactive, Guild Group, Goodby Silverstein &#38;amp; Partners

For Cisco Live conference 2014.

Put the wallet away, this vending machine only accepts anger. The Venting Machine takes all forms of rage – whack it, scream at it, or shake it. It’s not just therapeutic, all of that venting is turned into sweet prizes!
The Venting Machine dropped in Times Square, New York City on November 21, 2019. Fans brought their pent up rage from far and wide for a chance to whack the snot out of this incredible anger absorbing machine. The machine now lives at Rovio office in Finland.

		<description>Biomodd [NYC4]

Biomodd is a multifaceted socially engaged project that finds meaningful relationships between biology, computers and people. On the most basic level, Biomodd creates symbiotic relationships between plants and computers, and ignites conversations among the community around them.Thank you to Angelo Vermeulen, Biomodd team, and the SEADS network.

The structure is also equipped with a multiplayer game. Collect resources within the game world to power the robotic caretakers within in the sculpture. The plants within feed off the computers waste heat while playing and help cool them down in the process.

Biomodd [NYC4] was commissioned by curator Steve Dietz for the art show 'ReGeneration' at the New York Hall of Science in NYC. Community building around the project started in late 2011, and the final result of the project was on display from October 2012 till January 2013. For this monumental project Biomodd collaborators from Belgium, the Netherlands and the Philippines joined the team in NYC. This particular Biomodd version used the ‘spaceship’ as a metaphor for its physical integration in the architecture of NYSCI. The goal for Biomodd [NYC4] was to create a system in which there’s a two-way communication between living biology, and the virtual world running on the computer network.
